Happy Feast of All Saints
I love the Feast of All Saints.
I love it because it gives us a prize for us to keep our eyes on. We have hope that we too can gain heaven. It also reminds us that we there is indeed a Church triumphant made up of Saints who are not just spending days of leisure in heaven enjoying their just reward. They are also praying for us and interceding for us.
St Therese of Lisieux said,
“If God grants my desires, my Heaven will be spent on earth until the end of time. Yes, I will spend my Heaven doing good on earth…”
So let’s not forget that we have brothers and sisters who know our temptations because they experienced the same things we experienced. They not only overcame their temptations, but they want to help us overcome our temptations too!
Let us not forget the communion of the Saints.
Let us never stop striving to be Saints.
Happy Feast of All Saints!

Libera Me, Domine de Morte Aeterna , by Juan de Anchieta
Libera me, Domine, de morte æterna,
in die illa tremenda,
quando cæli movendi sunt et terra.
Dum veneris iudicare sæculum per ignem.
Dies illa, dies iræ, calamitatis et miseriæ,
dies magna et amara valde.
Tremens factus sum ego, et timeo,
dum discussione venerit, atque ventura ira.
Requiem æternam dona eis Domine,
et lux perpetua luceat eis.
Kyrie eleison.
Deliver me, O Lord, from death eternal,
in that fearful day:
When the heavens and the earth shall be shaken:
when thou shalt come to judge the world by fire.
O that day, that day of wrath, of calamity and
misery, a gread day and exceedingly bitter.
I am in fear and trembling till the sifting
be upon us, and the wrath to come.
Rest eternal grant unto them, O Lord:
and let light eternal shine upon them.
Lord have mercy.
