Beware Catholic Politicians! There is a Particular Judgment
Sancter Pater posted a link to a wonderful Sermon by Bishop Daniel Jenky of Peoria, Illinois, and reported by CNA, which warns Catholic politicians that there is a judgemeet day.
In this day of New-Age religion it is very easy to fall into the trap that God doesn’t judge anyone. I’ve been there. However, as the sermon points out, when we take actions that are contrary to Gods’s will, especially when we are responsible for helping to bring about new laws, we must remember that there is a particular judgment and one day we will be judged.“When asked specifically about recent actions of Democratic Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, Bishop Jenky replied “I am utterly scandalized.”
“The Lord once said ‘if you deny me at the end, I will deny you,’ this from our most merciful, good Savior. And so if it is a choice between Jesus Christ and political power or getting favorable editorials in leftist papers, well, that’s simply not a choice.”
This also applies to those of us who are not politicians. When asked about our views, we should be cautious, but not afraid to stand up for our beliefs.
It’s time Catholics became a force to reckon with. Where is our zeal? Maybe the Lord is using these trials and tribulations to awaken us in our lazy Catholicism.
